Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are beautiful shade loving flowering shrubs, that bloom with bouquets of clustered flowers from summer through fall. There are many varieties available which differ in flower and plant size, flower color and blooming times. These beautiful shrubs do their best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade.

One interesting fact about hydrangeas is that you can change the color of their flowers based on the pH levels in your soil. For example, if you have a pink hydrangea and would like to see blue buds you would need to add aluminum to the soil. One of the few exceptions are white variations which regardless of soil conditions will not be transformed into another color.
